ALARM Area 7 : Risk Assessment

The term risk assessment can be interpreted in many different ways and here we adopt a broad definition. To minimise the possibility of misinterpretation or over confidence in the use of such assessments it is important to communicate quantitative and qualitative uncertainties associated with each result. A wide variety of methods, with distinctive strengths and weaknesses, have been developed and applied to provide risk assessments at different scales and for different aspects of biodiversity.
