VLC/CAMPUS is the joint proposal promoted by the main research institutions of Valencia city and coordinated by the  University of Valencia (UV) for the creation of a Campus of International Excellence within the metropolitan area of Valencia.

METROPOLIS NETWORK OF EXCELLENCE PROJECT (MNE)

Proposed under the framework of VLC/CAMPUS to promote alliances with other specific European metropolitan initiatives focusing on Campus-City cooperation mechanisms to promote sustainable development and innovation.

Goals:

• Create intelligent territories (Smart Cities) which increase the concentration of human capital, talent and innovation  in the implementation areas of their network members
• Search for global solutions to commons problems, encouraging exchange of experiences and good practices contextualized to the individual situation of each campus
• Encourage city-campus tandem as “living-labs” where new products and services could be tested and co-developed with the participation of users and other stakeholders

MNE ACTIVITY LINES

• Mobility of students and professionals among the members of the Network to facilitate exchange and research collaboration
• Benchmarking activities as the right systematic process for identifying and implementing best practices and take advantage of the lessons learned by other members of the Network
• Provide the right and stable environment for meetings, discussions and dialogue around different experiences of success. As a permanent virtual meeting space a website will be launched for the dissemination of institutional content and related activities of the Metropolis Network of Excellence.
• Sponsor academic events, research activities and general dissemination of scientific excellence
