short description
The deep subsurface of the North German Basin bears hot water bodies comprising an enormous heat potential. The predicted resources suggest urban geothermal heating scenarios at district scale. To return invest, such geothermal systems hence require characteristic sizes at the order of urban quarter supply. To put this technology forward it is required to implement show cases, geothermal supply demonstrators at city quarter scale, capable of illustrating both the potential and the feasibility of the geothermal technology. The University may represent perfect test beds for geothermal supply demonstrators to put this climate-friendly technology forward.
