Sylvie FAUCHEUX is a university professor in economics, currently based at the CNAM in Paris, France.

After obtaining her doctorate in ecological economics at the Université de Paris I, she worked at the UVSQ (Université de Versailles St-Quentin-en-Yvelines) from 1994 until 2012, and was President of the UVSQ during 2002-2012.  She then chaired the PRES "UPGO" (Université du Grand Ouest Paris) from April to October 2012, before being appointed Rector of the Academy of Dijon (2012-2014).  

Sylvie Faucheux’s research work focuses on corporate sustainable development strategy, eco-innovation, and sustainable development indicators at the business, territorial and international levels.  She has managed numerous national, European and international research programmes.  She has published or copublished 11 books, of which five are in English, and more than one hundred articles, chapters in books and works of popularisation arount sustainability and eco-innovation.

 At the UVSQ in 1995 she led the creation of the interdisciplinary C3ED (Centre d'Economie et d'Ethique pour l'Environnement et le Développement).  She was the inaugural president of the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE) between 1996 and 2000.  She has been editor of the International Journal for Sustainable Development (published by Inderscience) since its creation in 1997.  She was the President of FONDaTERRA (the European Foundation for Sustainable Territories) for its lifetime from 2003 to 2014 and, was responsible for the establishment and first uears of operations of the Committee for Sustainable Development of the French national "Conference for University Presidents".   She has held many advisory positions including Vice-President of the centre for competitiveness Mov’eo, member of the French national commission for education, science and culture for l’UNESCO, and president of the scientific council for the Regional Natural Park of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse.
