Raising awareness of primary school children in the city of Mantes-la-Jolie to sustainable development through the organisation of learning activities such as gardening, cooking, do-it-yourself. These activities take place during the Sustainable Development Week at the University Institute of Technology and are organised by students of the technical marketing department under the coordination of Jean-Luc Guervin, a member of REEDS laboratory.
Three teaching objects relating to children:
• Discovering sustainable development through films, documentaries
• Learning concrete actions to take for the environment
• Helping them to retain what they have learnt with giveaways such as pens and bracelets
Helping children:
• To be responsible towards the world environment, for healthy living
• Practicing and environmental investigative approach, knowing how to query and observe, try things out, forming hypotheses and testing them, debating, expressing themselves and using standard results or from research while using a written and oral scientific vocabulary to master knowledge in diverse scientific fields. This is in order to use their knowledge in differing scientific contexts and in daily life.
